A number of players in Jurgen Klopp’s squad are said to be in line for renewal, and the Egyptian winger is supposedly one of them.

Liverpool legend John Barnes is anticipating a “long-term” contract extension for the club’s star player Mohamed Salah.

Salah joined Liverpool on a five-year contract back in 2017 and immediately signed another lucrative deal after enjoying a productive debut season wherein he scored 44 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions.

The 29-year-old has now entered the final 24 months of that deal, and recent reports claim the Reds are ready to hand him another extension.

It has been suggested the planned new deal will see the player who has been a mainstay in Jurgen Klopp’s team ever since his arrival from Roma get a considerable increment on his current £200,000-a-week wages.

“With Mohamed Salah set to sign a new long-term contract at Liverpool, which will take him up to the age of 34 or 35, I’d imagine this would be his final big contract,” Barnes, told Goal, speaking in association with BonusCodeBets.

“There’s a great chance he’ll remain at Anfield long-term.

“If Salah signs this new deal, maybe when he’s 35 he might leave for China or Qatar.

“But right now, he has his best years ahead of him, and it’s great news for Liverpool if they get a deal done.”
