The Argentine midfielder was left out of the squad for his side’s latest FA Cup match.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided an update on Alexis Mac Allister following his absence in Liverpool’s 5-2 victory over Norwich City in the FA Cup fourth round. Mac Allister, who was missing from the squad, was reportedly resting as a precautionary measure.
His absence raised concerns among fans due to his recent knee injury and a heavy blow he sustained during a previous match against Fulham. However, Klopp clarified in an interview with ITV after the game that Mac Allister’s absence was merely for rest.
“Alexis, he only rested today. He felt a little bit, so he is probably ready for Wednesday as well,” the German manager said.
“The next game is around the corner, only three times sleeping and then you play Chelsea here, which is obviously a different game, and then Arsenal away.”
Against Norwich, Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai all made their first appearances after returning from injury.
Klopp added: “Robbo was out for a long time, the other two boys not that long, so it was important for them all to have minutes.
“It might need a little bit, we will see there, but that they are back is super important.”
