A shoulder injury will keep Andrew Robertson on the sidelines for a while.
Andrew Robertson is set to undergo surgery after picking up a shoulder injury during the international break, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Robertson left the pitch in pain after a nasty collision during Scotland’s Euro qualifier against Spain. Upon his return to Liverpool, the defender underwent several tests, revealing the extent of his injury.
“I think the decision will go towards surgery. A little chance we can try without but all experts say surgery will be the best for the long term and that means he’s out for a while. We don’t know exactly how long,” Klopp told reporters in a press conference ahead of the Merseyside derby.
Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago Alcantara, and Ben Doak are also out of Liverpool’s squad with injuries. However, the Reds could have Cody Gakpo back in their squad as he has completed his rehab process during the international break.
“Gakpo trained once with the team so we will have to see how it goes for tomorrow,” Klopp said of the Dutchman who missed two Liverpool matches before the international break.
Following an upcoming derby against Everton on Saturday, Liverpool will face Toulouse in the Europa League five days later.
