The Liverpool captain is excited by Tyler Morton’s development, saying he has a ‘big future’ ahead of him.

Tyler Morton is enjoying a breakthrough season under Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool midfielder has made seven senior appearances for the Reds, often displaying solid performances.

The 19-year-old played for Liverpool in their dramatic Carabao Cup win over Leicester City on Wednesday. He showed great physicality during the game while being often successful in ball recoveries.

His highlight of the night, however, was a horrifying tackle of Ricardo Pereira. The Liverpool youngster broke Pereira’s leg in a ferocious challenge but only received a yellow card for the foul.

Still inexperienced, Morton has a long road ahead of him to become a reliable option in midfield. However, Jordan Henderson believes the teenager has already shown great signs of development.

“Tyler has been brilliant over the last few months, I really think he has improved,” Henderson told Liverpool’s website.

“He has obviously learned and listened to a lot of the lads around him in training and being around the lads, in the dressing room and in training, it will certainly help him.

“And I think that has helped him going into games, I think he has looked comfortable and he hasn’t looked fazed at all and he has done really well.

“So hopefully he can just carry on doing that. He is a great lad as well, he has worked extremely hard and I’m sure he’ll have a big future ahead of him.”

Following their Carabao Cup win over Leicester, Liverpool will face the Foxes again on Tuesday. The Reds will then prepare to meet Chelsea in a crunch top-of-the-table game on Sunday.
