The Reds hope to bounce back from their slow start in the Premier League.

Thiago Alcantara will travel with Liverpool for their upcoming Champions League opener against Napoli.

The Spaniard suffered a hamstring injury in Liverpool’s league opener against Fulham last month. He has returned to training ahead of his side’s upcoming UCL game, handing Jurgen Klopp a massive squad boost.

Thiago comes back to Liverpool’s midfield while Jordan Henderson remains out of action until October.

In addition to Henderson, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fabio Carvalho, Ibrahima Konate, Calvin Ramsey, and Caoimhin Kelleher are all out with injuries.

Thiago will most likely start the game on the bench. However, his presence will give Klopp a new option amid his side’s midfield problems.

The Reds have played with Harvey Elliott and James Milner in their midfield recently. Having won two of their first six games in the Premier League, they have slipped to seventh place on the table.

At the Champions League, Klopp’s side have received a tricky draw, competing against Napoli, Ajax, and Rangers in Group A.

The Reds will face Napoli in their UCL opener on Wednesday. The Serie A giants come into the game on the back of a 2-1 win over Lazio on Saturday.
