Two of the members of the Premier League title holders’ squad are ready to make their timely returns from the treatment room.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Naby Keita are set to rejoin the rest of the Liverpool team for their training session ahead of the Premier League outing against Wolves, confirms Jurgen Klopp.
Alexander-Arnold picked up a hamstring injury against Manchester City and has been on the sidelines since November 8.
Keita, meanwhile, has not played for over two weeks now after going off injured in the second half of the win against Leicester City.
Atalanta and Ajax in the Champions League and Brighton in the Premier League are the teams the two players together couldn’t face, with the Reds winning two of those matches.
The full-back and the midfielder both will remain available for selection for Liverpool’s home match on Sunday, though whether or not they’ll see any action is still doubtful.
“Trent and Naby will do the first steps in team training today [Friday]; whatever we can do with that depends on how it looks,” Klopp told in his pre-match press conference.
“So far, they didn’t do a lot apart from treatment and stuff like this. We have to see how that develops [but] I don’t know in the moment.
“There is a chance Naby and Trent can be in the squad, I would say.
“If they can play, I don’t know. If they are in the squad then they can play, but if they can start or play 90 minutes, I don’t know. I think there’s a chance they are in the squad, yes.
“Apart from Naby and Trent, nobody is coming back, no.”
