Bayern Munich are set to avoid activating a set of costly clauses in Mane’s contract.
Liverpool’s hopes of a £7.5 million cash boost have been dealt a blow as former star Sadio Mane prepares to join Al-Nassr.
The Senegalese winger’s potential transfer to the Saudi Arabian club could see Bayern Munich pocket around £30 million, marking the end of a lacklustre debut season for Mane in Germany.
Mane left Liverpool just a year ago in a £35 million deal and was expected to trigger performance-based add-ons worth £7.5 million for his former club.
However, according to Mirror, with his move to Al-Nassr, those additional earnings are now off the table.
This transfer setback for Liverpool comes as they have already lost former captain Jordan Henderson to Al-Ettifaq and face the possibility of Fabinho’s departure to Al-Ittihad in a £40 million deal. Consequently, the Reds are actively searching for midfield recruits in Europe, with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia being their main target.
As Mane’s move to Al-Nassr becomes imminent, Liverpool’s financial plans take a hit. The Senegalese star will also miss out on reuniting with his former teammates when Bayern Munich take on Liverpool in a friendly fixture in Singapore this Wednesday.
