The Dutch midfielder has rediscovered his spark under Klopp this season.

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has opened up on his summer move away from Bayern Munich.

The German giants signed Gravenberch from Ajax on an €18m move in 2022, hoping to have found their next versatile midfielder. But competition in Bayern‘s midfield barely allowed Gravenberch to get enough playing time at Allianz Arena.

When Liverpool expressed their interest in signing Gravenberch, he had little reason to reject Klopp’s offer.

“When Klopp called, he gave me his plan and then things went quite quickly,” the 21-year-old told Viaplay Sport. “That was really the most important thing I wanted. In the end I got my chances and also the playing time I had been promised.”

Asked if Klopp was better at keeping his promises compared to Bayern coaches, the Netherlands international responded: “Actually, yes.”

Gravenberch ended his short stint at Bayern to join Liverpool on a €40m move. Having arrived after the departures of Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the Dutchman has quickly found his place in Klopp’s plans. He has made a total of 11 appearances across all competitions for the Reds so far this season, hoping to secure a regular spot in Liverpool’s starting XI.
