The Egyptian star is edging closer to making his return from injury.
Mohamed Salah participated in Liverpool’s team training on Tuesday. The Reds forward is preparing to make his long-awaited return from injury next weekend.
Salah’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign came to an abrupt halt when he picked up a hamstring injury in Egypt’s 2-2 draw against Ghana on January 18. However, the 31-year-old’s rehab process has gone according to plan since his return to Liverpool.
Speaking before Liverpool’s win over Burnley on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp said of Salah’s fitness: “We hope that he can be part of parts of training next week. But we have to see, he is going through all the phases now and it’s positive. It’s either next week or the week after.”
The manager’s wish came true when Salah participated in full training on Tuesday. Liverpool won’t play a game until Saturday, which gives the forward enough time to prepare for his side’s next Premier League match against Brentford.
In Salah’s absence, Liverpool maintained their place at the top of the league standings with a number of impressive attacking displays. However, a crucial defeat against Arsenal reminded the Reds of Salah’s impact on their title hopes.
Salah has registered 14 goals and eight assists in his 20 Premier League appearances for Liverpool so far this season. Let’s see if he can increase his tally upon his comeback next weekend.
