The Reds have made a four-man shortlist of their midfield targets.

Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Barcelona’s Gavi next summer.

The Reds have intensified their efforts to bolster their midfield line this season. Jude Bellingham has emerged as a transfer priority for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However, the brutal race for the Borussia Dortmund star has forced Liverpool to consider other options.

According to the Times, Liverpool have made a four-man shortlist of their midfield targets. The Reds are keen to sign two players off the list, which includes Bellingham, Gavi, Chelsea’s Mason Mount, and Wolves’ Matheus Nunes.

The British source claims Liverpool first considered a move for Gavi last summer. The Catalans were negotiating a move for Bernardo Silva, which could’ve threatened Gavi’s place in Barca’s squad.

Silva ended up staying at Man City as Gavi signed a contract extension at Barcelona. However, these developments haven’t convinced the Reds to rule out a move for the Spain international.

Since making his Barcelona debut in August 2021, Gavi has developed into a key player for Barcelona and La Roja. The 18-year-old has made 24 La Liga appearances under Xavi, helping Barca stay at the top of the league table.
