Arnaut Danjuma has emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool as they are keen to sign a backup for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool will miss two key attackers after this year’s Boxing Day. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will join Egypt and Senegal respectively to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Reds are exploring the market for a new forward, with another African-born player emerging as their transfer target.

According to Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are considering a move for Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma.

For January, they have a problem that Mo Salah and Sadio Mane will go to the Africa Cup of Nations,” Romano told the Here We Go Podcast.

“This is why they are looking for wingers I’m told, wingers more than midfielders but let’s see if they are able to find the right player.

“Liverpool are always working like this, no panic buy but if they have a good opportunity, yes.

“If not they will continue like this. But they are looking for this kind of opportunity, wingers.”

Since his move to Villarreal in August, Danjuma has delivered promising performances for the Yellow Submarines. The former Bournemouth forward was born in Nigeria, but he has chosen the Netherlands as his national team.
