The Reds are ‘confident’ they will have their injured centre-back in the squad before the Real Madrid clash.

Joe Gomez will reportedly complete his recovery process before the upcoming Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

The English defender suffered a leg injury in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday. He appeared to be in a lot of pain, but Jurgen Klopp suggested his injury was not serious.

“I hope we are lucky. Joe himself has pain but not too much,” Klopp said after the match.

“He got, one time, a real shock to the system, but he is sitting in the dressing room and when I spoke to him he was in a good mood. I think maybe we were probably lucky but we have to figure that out.”

A new report from the Athletic claims Liverpool are confident they will have Gomez back in time for their clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

However, the 24-year-old will not be an option for Klopp’s side when they take on Wolves in their final Premier League game of the season on Sunday.

The Reds will make one last effort to leapfrog Manchester City from the top of the league table this weekend. Having already won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup titles this season, the Reds continue their efforts to win the quadrupole.
