Liverpool faced Hertha Berlin in Austria this evening in a thrilling 4-3 defeat for the Reds. Stevan Jovetic showed the football world he’s still got it after putting a brace past the English side. However, Liverpool fans will find some happiness in knowing that their star center-backs have made a return to the football pitch after a long spell on the sidelines due to serious injuries.

Although Jurgen Klopp’s side displayed good football throughout the 90 minutes, the manager will be highly disappointed that his team conceded a total of four goals against the Germans. Liverpool held the possession and had more chances in the match.

However, they failed to stop a fit Jovetic who even managed to leave Van Dijk on the floor. The Montenegro captain took advantage of a quick counter-attack as the Dutch defender slipped and fell to the ground, followed by Robertson’s awkward attempt to stop the attacker.

Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez were subbed in 20 minutes before the end of the match. Despite being a bit out of shape, they will undoubtedly be a big part of Liverpool’s aspirations in the Premier League this season. Sane, Minamino, and Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the three English goals of the fixture. Jurgen Klopp must have also been pleased with Mo Salah. The Egyptian assisted Minamino with his backheel as the Reds tied the match just before half-time.

Liverpool will now face Athletic Club a week from now as they attempt to improve their defensive record before the start of the season.
