Liverpool came from a goal down to beat Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield on Monday night to maintain their perfect start to the season.
Premier League champions Liverpool made it three wins from three so far with a convincing 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Monday.
The Gunners had defeated Liverpool twice over the past two months and, like their hosts, entered this fixture with a perfect start. However, Mikel Arteta’s men were unable to build on a lead gifted to them by Robertson 25 minutes in.
The left-back set up Alexandre Lacazette to score for the visitors completely against the run of play. The lead didn’t last long though as Sadio Mane to equalize 147 seconds later.
Robertson then completed the swift turnaround by putting Liverpool in front before the end of the first half.
Liverpool resumed the second half in the same way they ended the first. The Reds continued to dominate the Gunners with a good amount of possession on the ball.
Arsenal will rue a missed chance by Alexandre Lacazette when he fired straight at Alisson after going clear on goal.
New Liverpool signing Diogo Jota capped off a beautiful debut for the Reds as he sealed things late on with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box. Bernd Leno was helpless.
The victory sees the Reds continue their dominance at Anfield and it’s now up to three-and-a-half years since they tasted defat at home.
For the Gunners, their poor away form against ‘top six’ sides continues as they have now gone 28 games on the travel without a win.
