The Premier League runners-up will welcome 19-year-old Fabio Carvalho to their ranks this summer.

Liverpool have announced Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho will join the club when the transfer window reopens on July 1.

The 19-year-old becomes Liverpool’s first signing for this summer. He almost joined Jurgen Klopp’s side in the January transfer window, only for the deal to collapse on deadline day.

This time around, however, Liverpool have got their man.

Carvalho has already completed his medical and accepted a five-year contract at Anfield. According to various reports, he’ll join from Fulham for a transfer fee of £5 million and £2.7 million in add-ons. The deal includes a 20% sell-on clause.

The Portugal U-21 international is a product of Fulham’s academy and played a key role in the Cottagers’ promotion to the Premier League, supplying 10 goals and eight assists in the Championship this season.

While Carvalho is out of contract in the summer, Fulham will receive compensation from Liverpool as they agreed to the sale in January. Had the two clubs not found an agreement, a tribunal would have set the price.
