According to the latest reports, Liverpool have more or less agreed a deal to sign Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.

According to the news making the rounds, Ibrahima Konate is already in the final stages of completing a move to Liverpool.

In line with news we have been reporting over the past weeks, the RB Leipzig defender is set to complete a move to Anfield this summer on a five-year deal.

Konate has a release clause in his Leipzig contract worth €35m, and the two clubs are already in talks regarding payment of the full amount.

“It is really, really close. it is just a matter of time,” said journalist Fabrizio Romano on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning.

“The agreement with the player is done. They want to sign the player. It is just a case of the clubs negotiating.

“The player wants to go. It is a five-year contract. In some weeks, it will be complete.”

Jurgen Klopp is moving to strengthen his backline ahead of next season after injuries ruined their title defence.

The club signed Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies in January but Fabinho has featured in defense on multiple occasions this season.

Davies has yet to feature for the Reds and it remains to be seen if they will make their loan signing of Kabak permanent.

Konate already has 94 appearances to his name at Leipzig and has already made a name as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga.

Chelsea were also in the race to sign Konate but it seems Anfield is now certain to be his next destination.
