Liverpool crush the Saints as they keep the pressure on Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool won their Premier League game against Southampton with a 4-0 result on Saturday. The Reds displayed another incredible attacking performance as the Saints slipped to 14th place on the league table.
Jota steals the show!
Liverpool scored an early opener through Diogo Jota in the second minute of the game. The Portuguese star doubled the Reds’ lead thirty minutes later as Southampton looked already shattered.
Like almost all of their games this season, Liverpool did not stop when they were two goals ahead. Jurgen Klopp’s side kept the pressure on Southampton’s backline and scored their third goal in the 37th minute. Thiago Alcantara scored another goal for Liverpool as he continued his incredible form of the recent matches.
Early in the second half, Virgil van Dijk scored the fourth goal of the night for Liverpool. The Reds had several chances to increase their lead, but they were not clinical enough to score.
Liverpool took their points tally to 28, only one point behind Chelsea on top of the league table. On the other hand, Southampton slipped to 14th place on the table, five points above the relegation zone.
