The Reds completed a brilliant comeback to reach the Carabao Cup’s fourth round.

Liverpool defeated Leicester City 3-1 in their Carabao Cup match on Wednesday. A fantastic second-half display secured the Reds’ place in the next round of the competition.

What happened?

Leicester City stunned the hosts with an early goal as Kasey McAteer found the back of the net in the third minute. The Reds immediately took control of the game to push for the equalizer but had to wait until after the break to find the back of the net.

Only three minutes after the break, Cody Gakpo made it 1-1 with a brilliant low shot from inside the box. The Reds maintained the pressure on the visitors’ backline until they finally completed their comeback in the 70th minute.

Dominik Szoboszlai unleashed a stunning strike from behind the box into the top corner of the net to make it 2-1. Liverpool’s dominance continued after Szoboszlai’s goal, with Diogo Jota scoring the hosts’ third goal a minute before the full-time whistle.

Gakpo made an incredible display as the Reds stretched their winning streak to seven games by beating Leicester. In addition to scoring his side’s second goal, the Dutchman created space for other Liverpool forwards with his sharp manoeuvres and runs inside the box.
