The Reds clinched a narrow win over Norwich to keep their quadruple hopes alive.
Liverpool defeated Norwich 2-1 in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday. The Reds followed their Carabao Cup win with another victory while Norwich suffered fourth consecutive defeat.
Minamino steals the show!
Liverpool established their dominance by quickly gaining possession over their opponents at Anfield. In the absence of Jurgen Klopp’s regular starters, Curtis Jones and Divock Origi displayed impressive performances for the Reds.
Following an assist from Origi, Takumi Minamino scored from close range to break the deadlock in the 27th minute. He then doubled his side’s lead with a stunning shot from inside the box 12 minutes later.
Norwich displayed a much-improved performance in the second half while pushing hard to get back into the game. However, they did not manage to score until the 76th minute, which turned out to be too late.
Liverpool won their 11th consecutive match across all competitions while Norwich crashed out of the competition.
What’s next for Liverpool and Norwich?
Both sides will return to Premier League action this weekend and on different poles of the table. Liverpool are back in the title race as they face West Ham at Anfield while Norwich host Brentford in their bid to escape the rock-bottom of the table.
