The Newcastle newboy received a brilliant assist from Sean Longstaff before smashing it past Alisson Becker with a powerful finish.
The 38th-minute goal forced Liverpool to go all-in with their attacks at the start of the second period.
Following a few missed chances, Firmino scored the equalizer for the Reds just after the hour-mark.
Liverpool then pushed hard to get the match-winner in the final 20 minutes. Newcastle almost survived through Nick Pope’s heroics, but a last-minute winner from Fabio Carvalho ruined their plans.
A poorly cleared corner found the Portuguese star, who rifled it past Pope with a powerful finish from close range.
What’s next for the Reds?
Liverpool climbed up to fifth place on the table after beating the Magpies.
The Reds must face Everton in the Merseyside derby next weekend.
