Jurgen Klopp’s men claimed a narrow win to bounce back from their dissapointing start to the new Champions League season.

Liverpool defeated Ajax 2-1 in their Champions League game on Tuesday. The Eredivisie giants were close to escaping Anfield with a point, but Liverpool managed to snatch the three points.

An unlikely hero!

Liverpool dominated the game early on, looking for an early breakthrough.

The Reds found what they were looking for when Mohamed Salah scored his first UCL game on the season in the 17th minute.

The hosts tried to double their lead by increasing the pressure on Ajax’s backline. But it was the guests who found the equalizer only ten minutes after Salah’s opener.

Following an assist from Steven Berghuis, Mohammad Kudus made it 1-1 with a clinical finish.

Liverpool doubled down on their efforts to restore the lead in the second half. However, similar to their recent displays, the Reds struggled hard to convert their chances.

The Reds were preparing for another frustrating draw when Joel Matip scored the late winner. Following a corner from Kostas Tsimikas, the Cameroon star flew above the Ajax midfielders to smash the ball into the back of the net with a powerful header.

The crucial victory puts Liverpool behind Napoli on the Group A table. The Italian giants will face Rangers tomorrow while the Reds prepare to host Brighton on October 1st.
