The Reds were held to a draw as they failed to reclaim the Premier League’s top spot.
Liverpool drew 1-1 with Arsenal in their Premier League game on Saturday. The Reds weren’t dominant enough to edge out Arsenal at Anfield.
What happened?
Liverpool were shocked with an early goal as Gabriel Magalhaes found the back of the net for the visitors in the fourth minute. Martin Odegaard’s teasing free-kick met Gabriel, who smashed it into the corner of the net with a towering header.
The Reds immediately started their efforts to get back into the game but had to wait until the 29th minute to finally make it 1-1. Mohamed Salah revived a superb through ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold before breezing past Oleksandr Zinchenko and unleashing a precise shot past David Raya.
After the break, the Reds looked to be on their way to complete the comeback. Liverpool came inches away from scoring the second goal, but their attacks fizzled out as the game entered its final stages.
Arsenal retain their spot at the Premier League’s top spot, sitting a point above Liverpool and Aston Villa.
Liverpool vs Arsenal: Man of the Match
Odegaard deserves the Man of the Match title after making another brilliant display for Arsenal in their draw against Liverpool. In addition to providing an assist for Gabriel’s opener, Odegaard’s dominating presence in the midfield helped Arsenal escape Anfield with a point in the second half.
