Lionel Messi’s wife Antonella wrote her parting message to Luis Suarez’s spouse Sofia after his transfer to Atletico Madrid.
Lionel Messi’s wife Antonella said her goodbye to Luis Suarez’s wife Sofia. She shared her heartfelt message on social media after the Uruguay international left Barcelona.
Suarez exited the Catalan club this week. The forward will play for Atletico Madrid for the new season.
Barca captain Messi criticized the club’s ability to control the situation. He shared his feelings on an Instagram post. In addition, the Argentine expressed his sorrow as his friend left Camp Nou.
Although, his wife, Antonella, followed his footsteps as she conveyed her message. She wrote a social media post for Suarez’s family and her friend Sofia.
Antonella wrote on social media: “Bolu, my friend, my sister… thank you for so many years together.
“For so many laughs, so many Mates and unending chats.
“You were like family for us. I can’t tell you how much, so very much, I’m going to miss you and your amazing family.
“Thank you for everything! Let’s hope life keeps giving us moments [to spend] together and I’m sure we’ll see each other again soon!
“I love you, your [family]. All the best with this new step.”
Sofia quickly replied: “And when I thought I had no more tears I found this!
“Thank you for so much of what you said and for all that we have left to live …I love you, I adore you.”
Suarez was surprised to hear the club’s decision at a press conference on Thursday. Messi was also present at the event.
An emotional Suarez said: “It is such a surprise, I didn’t have anything really prepared. The club has always had so much confidence in me since 2014 when they signed me.
“The club trusted me knowing the conditions that came after the mistake I made.
“The conditions that I came here, they surrounded me, the confidence they had in me, it wasn’t easy to accept this, the coaches and the team-mates, the way they accepted me when I came, it was amazing.
“All the people know the sacrifice that I made in these years to come to Barcelona and play for the best team in the world. I am aware we are at the end of an era but I should be very proud of everything we have done.
“The club needed changes and the coach didn’t count on me. I want to show that I can still perform at a high level.
“I’m joining Atletico Madrid with a lot of excitement, but I still haven’t thought about what it will be like to play against Barcelona. I haven’t fully digested it yet.”
