After more than a year taking a break, Lionel Messi will finally return to a starting lineup with the Argentina national team vs Ecuador.
Leo Messi’s last image with the Argentina national team was unforgettable. He received a red card after an entanglement with Chile’s Gary Medel during the Copa America semifinal. That whole experience was eye-opening for the Barcelona star, he even complained against Conmebol after it all went down. It’s been more than a year since that happened and we’ve all been through so much ever since.
The world is going through a global pandemic, Argentina has many new players on its roster, and even Messi tried to leave FC Barcelona. But one thing remains constant for the star, he wants some silverware with his country. After this year’s Copa America got postponed due to the crisis, Leo returns on a mission.
The upcoming match against Ecuador marks the start of the World Cup Qualifiers in the Conmebol region. This will surely be the last major tournament Messi will play for Argentina after the 2021 Copa America. It is pretty obvious that Leo has a clear goal to qualify for the competition and give it one more try.

Just like it happened during his final World Cup Qualifier for the 2018 tournament, Messi confronts Ecuador once again. Argentina is set to play against them at ‘La Bombonera’ stadium with no fans in the stands. Leo will come back with a refreshed squad that should give him enough hope for the future.
There are no more of his friends from previous projects, all he must care about is the level of performance. Messi is set to play next to Lautaro Martinez and Ocampos. In midfield, Lionel Scaloni will play De Paul, Acuña, and Paredes. The coach will have a four-men line with Montiel, Martinez Quarta, Otamendi, and Tagliafico.
And finally, Armani will be the goalkeeper for the first World Cup Qualifier with Argentina. But at the center of it all, Messi will try to lead the pack through his talent and experience.
