The PSG star has just one Ligue 1 goal from 44 shots.
Lionel Messi has the second-worst conversion rate of any player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
The Paris Saint-Germain star has failed to replicate his best Barcelona form since making the switch last summer. He has scored just once in Ligue 1 despite making 44 attempts on goal in 12 appearances.
According to the Daily Mail, the Argentine now has the second-worst shots-to-goal ratio of any player this campaign.
Only Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo has a worse record, scoring just once from his 46 shots in the Premier League.
Messi has performed better in the Champions League, having scored five goals in as many games, while also providing six assists.
However, he has been criticised time and again for his slow start to life at the Parc des Princes. Despite the criticism sent his way, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema believes it won’t be long before Messi shines at PSG.
Benzema told French channel TF1: “How won’t he succeed?
“It is just a period of adaptation because he is not scoring a lot of goals. But watch what he does on the pitch. In any case you cannot criticise a player like that. He who criticises Messi, knows nothing about football.”
The former La Liga rivals will face each other next month when PSG take on Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.
“The game against PSG will not be easy at all,” Benzema added. “I would have preferred another opponent to be honest.”
