The Bayern hitman put up his career-best numbers in the treble-winning season last time out and remains productive as ever in 2020.

Robert Lewandowski bagged a brace as he helped Bayern Munich manage a turnaround and win 2-1 against Wolfsburg on Wednesday.

The brace took the striker’s tally to 15 league goals for the season and 18 in just 17 games across all competitions.

He also celebrated becoming the first non-German to reach the 250-goal mark in the German top-flight for Bayern and only the third player ever to achieve the feat after Gerd Muller (365) and Klaus Fischer (268).

Lewandowski, alongside Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo and FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, has been nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Player award.

And Hansi Flick is backing the man who scored a staggering 55 goals last season and led his side to Champions League, Bundesliga, and DFB-Pokal successes by finishing as top-scorer in each of the competitions to win the prestigious FIFA prize.

“Lewy is on one side very important on the pitch, but also he is in the inner circle of the squad,” the Bayern head coach said post-match, via Bundesliga’s official website.

“[He] is of course a very important player who’s point of view truly counts.

“Therefore, we are all looking ahead. So that Manuel [Neuer], as well as Lewy, will win their awards. Both players truly deserve it.

Lewandowski’s teammate Manuel Neuer has been nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper award alongside Liverpool’s Alisson Becker and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak.
