With Julian Nagelsmann set to become Bayern Munich boss next season, Robert Lewandowski has shared his thoughts on the young tactician.

Robert Lewandowski has given his nod of approval to the incoming Bayern Munich boss, Julian Nagelsmann.

The 33-year-old, currently on the books of RB Leipzig, has already been announced as the next manager for the Bavarians, taking over from Hansi Flick once the season ends.

Given the world-record €25m fee Bayern paid Leipzig to sign Nagelsmann, it shows how much the Bundesliga giants have the young manager in high regard.

Indeed, the 33-year-old has proven he can get the job done, having led Hoffenheim to the Champions League during his stint at the club and leading Leipzig to their first ever Champions League semi-final last season.

Star forward Robert Lewandowski is confident Nagelsmann can help Bayern retain their high standards and competitive nature in the Bundesliga and across Europe.

“I don’t know Julian Nagelsmann well, but what I can say is that he always manages to raise teams to a level that you don’t imagine” the Polish forward told Sport Bild.

“The performance of Nagelsmann’s teams is mostly above expectations, it’s about more than the quality of a single player.”

Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeness added to Sky Germany : “Nagelsmann is a very good choice.”

However, Lewandowski retains full respect for departing Hansi-Flick, having shared a strong relationship with the 56-year-old during his time at the club.

“He’s not only a great coach, he’s also a great person,” added the Polish striker. “You can also talk to him about private matters.

“We have achieved historic things with Hansi Flick. That was by far my best time at Bayern, he always gave us a clear plan of what to expect.”
