Arsenal have cruised to the knockouts, but can they go all the way in the Champions League? Kevin Danso had this to say after his Lens team lost 6-0 to the Gunners.

Arsenal can win the Champions League if they perform as they did against Lens in the knockouts, according to Kevin Danso.

Danso witnessed Arsenal’s might first-hand on Wednesday. The defender had no answer for the Gunners, as his team, Lens, crashed to a 6-0 loss at the Emirates Stadium.

The result secured Arsenal’s place in the last-16 of the Champions League as the Group B winners, with a game to spare.

“Arsenal was just the better team, I don’t think we turned up as much as we could’ve,” Danso conceded after the match.

“They’re one of the best teams in the world at the moment and we saw that today. Three quick goals in succession and that kind of breaks the camels back.

“If they play like they did today obviously [they can win it]. There are a lot of good teams in this competition. You have to take it game by game and day by day.”

Arsenal’s 6-0 victory over Lens was the biggest achieved by an English team over French opposition in European football.

The game had a forgone conclusion by the end of the first half, with Arsenal taking a five-goal lead. Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Martin Odegaard all scored.

Jorginho then netted a late penalty in the 86th minute to wrap up an unforgettable night for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Yet, with Wolves swinging by to the Emirates on Saturday for a Premier League match, Arsenal must quickly regroup. They currently sit at the top of the league standings, one point above Manchester City.
