The German shot-stopper is said to be one of a number of players deemed surplus to requirements by Mikel Arteta.

Bernd Leno insists he’s “still happy at Arsenal”, essentially pouring cold water on the recent exit rumors.

Uncertainty has been surrounding Leno’s future lately amid reports Mikel Arteta, looking to usher the club into a new era, is planning a summer exodus so as to raise funds for new signings.

Arteta demonstrated his faith in the goalkeeper last summer by allowing Emiliano Martinez to leave – a decision not whole-heartedly welcomed by the Gunners fanbase. However, he has now reportedly lost faith in Leno, who has had a mixed season.

The Germany international, though, suggests he wants to honor the full length of his Arsenal contract, which runs until 2023.

“It’s not good to feel sorry for ourselves, we need to move forward and change it to a positive as soon as possible,” he told Sky Sports.

“I am still happy at Arsenal. Arsenal is still a big club, a big name in the world and in the Premier League.

“There is nobody in the dressing room who says ‘I want to leave the club, I am not happy here anymore’.

“We still have a good environment at the club and in the dressing room. Of course, at times it was not easy this season, but this is part of football.”
