Ace Football previews the Premier League match between Leicester City and Fulham, and offers betting tips, odds, line-ups, and team news.
Monday night sees Leicester City welcome Fulham to the King Power Stadium hoping to move level on points with Premier League leaders Tottenham and Liverpool.
15 places and 14 points separate the two clubs in the league table, with Leicester up in fourth and Fulham down in 19th. Both of them arrive on the back of defeats from their previous matches and intent on getting back on track.
They’ve also faced each other six times in the Premier League era. Leicester won the last meeting 3-1 at the King Power on March 2019 following Youri Tielemans’ first-half goal and a late Jamie Vardy brace, and be will hopeful of a similar result.
Leicester City Form & Stats
A 3-0 defeat to Liverpool last time out in the Premier League ended a six-match winning run in all competitions. Leicester had their moments at Anfield but came up short when it really counted most.
Vardy’s injury-time goal then spared Brendan Rodgers’s side of a Europa League defeat last Thursday against Braga, salvaging a valuable point from a 3-3 draw to stay top of Group G.
Coming from behind three times to nick a point also proved the resolve inside the Foxes camp. It could also have given the players a timely confidence boost, despite their somewhat below-par display in Portugal.
Now the aim is to get back to winning ways on Monday at the King Power. Considering Fulham’s struggles and Leicester’s excellent start to the season, three points are definitely a possibility. But their recent home troubles suggest a surprise result isn’t out of the equation.
A key part of the game against Fulham will probably hinge on whether Leicester can find space for Vardy and Harvey Barnes. It’s something they struggled to do against Liverpool, West Ham, and Aston Villa.
Key Team Stats
- Lost two of their four home league games this season (W2).
- Won both of their Monday night league games in 2020 by an aggregate score of 8-1.
- None of their last 13 league games have ended in a draw (W7 D6).
- Brendan Rodgers has won all seven of his league matches against Fulham.
Fulham Form & Stats
After grabbing their first win of the season against West Brom at the seventh attempt, Fulham suffered back-to-back defeats to West Ham and Everton. Therefore, they’re second-bottom in the standings on four points.
Two points, though, are all that lies between them and safety. But while it’ll fire the squad up to face Leicester, it also serves as a reminder of what could’ve been had they not missed three penalties. Those misses from the 12-yard spot cost them a potential four points.
The attacking play at Craven Cottage, however, looks promising as Fulham have outscored their main relegation rivals. An average of 12.9 shots-per-game is also the league’s seventh-best record. Although the six-yard box seems to be a weak spot, as the Cottagers have made just two shots overall.
Although Scott Parker’s greatest concern probably lies in his defense after conceding three first-half goals against Everton last time out. It left Fulham with the joint-worst defensive record on 18 conceded goals alongside West Brom.
Key Team Stats
- Lost seven of their nine league games this season (W1 D1).
- Lost three of their four away league games this season (D1).
- Over 2.5 goals in their four away league games this season.
- Bobby De Cordova-Reid has scored two goals in his last three league games.
