A narrow win is enough for the Gunners to maintain their lead at the top of the league table.

Arsenal defeated Leicester City 1-0 in their Premier League game on Saturday. An uninspiring performance from the Foxes saw Arsenal claim a crucial victory at the King Power Stadium.

Martinelli to rescue!

Arsenal came into the game hoping to build on their dramatic comeback against Aston Villa.

Similar to that game, the Gunners started the game by pushing for an early opener. However, the hosts managed to hold on to their defensive integrity, repelling all of Arsenal’s attacks in the first 20 minutes.

The Gunners increased the pressure and scored the opener through Leandro Trossard. But VAR ruled out the goal for a foul during the buildup.

The first half ended with a goalless draw, but Arsenal stunned their opponents with an instant opener after the break.

Following an assist from Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli ran into Leicester’s box from the left-hand channel. The Brazilian forward then converted the one-on-one situation with a precise low shot into the far post.

The pace of the game dropped significantly after the goal as Leicester struggled to push for an equaliser. Arsenal had a few chances to increase their lead but settled for a narrow victory.

The Gunners will host Everton in their next league game while Leicester take on Southampton.
