Leicester City were not able to beat their Dutch opponents despite dominating the game.
PSV Eindhoven drew 0-0 with Leicester City in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final tie on Thursday. Both sides will look for a breakthrough in the second leg after failing to score at the King Power Stadium.
Goalscoring problems haunt Leicester again!
PSV started the game with confidence and surprised the Foxes with their quick transitional play early on. Mario Gotze found two chances behind Leicester’s backline, with Kasper Schmeichel denying him both times.
Leicester then gained possession and managed to force their opponents into their own half. However, their efforts resulted in a few dangerous counter-attack chances for the guests.
Kelechi Iheanacho missed Leicester’s best chance to break the deadlock when his chip shot against PSV keeper Yvon Mvogo went wide off the post.
The Foxes went on to dominate the game throughout the second half. However, they lacked enough composure to convert their chances.
PSV managed to keep the hosts at bay all the way until the final whistle, while Leicester had no option but to settle for a home draw.
What’s next for Leicester and PSV?
The two sides will have to face again at the Philips Stadium next Thursday. Having seen Leicester fail to benefit from the home advantage, PSV will most likely play with a more fearless approach in the next leg.
Before the game, both sides will return to their respective domestic leagues to play at the weekend. Leicester will host Crystal Palace while PSV continue Eredivisie’s nail-biting title race with a match against Waalwijk.
