Ace Football previews the Premier League clash between Leeds United and Wolves, and offers the latest betting tips, line-ups, odds, and team news.
The second of two Premier League fixtures to take place on Monday night will see the high-flying Leeds United lock horns with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road.
A tight encounter is expected between these two sides, with just a single point separating them in the standings. Yet, such is the close nature of the competition, they’re still six places apart. Although Wolves, who sit down in 15th, plan to amend that at the expense of their ninth-placed hosts.
Recent history is in the visitors’ favor as well, having won all their last three meetings in the Championship. Their previous encounter, in fact, ended in a 3-0 win at Elland Road in March 2018.
Nonetheless, this one has all the makings of a brilliant night of football in West Yorkshire. Both teams favor getting on the ball and dictating play, suggesting we could be in for an open contest. The question is who will come out on top?
Leeds United Form & Stats
Marcelo Bielsa’s side head into the match on the back of a solid return to the Premier League. After a 16-year absence, the Championship winners are flying high in the English top-tier once again and don’t intend to stop there.
As Liverpool and Manchester City can attest, Leeds are not to be taken lightly in any game. The former needed four goals to win their meeting in a 4-3 thriller, while the latter had settled for a 1-1 draw at Elland Road. That, on top of victories over Fulham and Sheffield United, has left the Whites in a sound position.
Bielsa, meanwhile, has revealed new signing Raphinha could make his debut against Wolves. However, Leeds skipper Liam Cooper has a calf problem and will take a late fitness test and fellow center-back Diego Llorente is out.
This may prove a slight problem for Leeds ahead of Monday night’s showdown, where victory would offer another positive indication of their progress under Bielsa.

- Scored in all their last 13 games in all competitions.
- BTTS in three of their four league games this season.
- Over 3.5 goals in their four league games this season.
Wolves Form & Stats
Wolves, on the other hand, haven’t enjoyed such a breathtaking taking start to their own campaign. A 2-0 opening day win at Sheffield United was followed with back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and West Ham.
Although Nuno Espirito Santo’s side returned to winning ways before the international break in a slender 1-0 victory at home to Fulham. It wasn’t a great performance, but three points are all that matter. Now they’ll be desperate to build on this bit of promise away to Leeds.
For Nuno, the match will also reunite him with former players Helder Costa and Rodrigo Moreno. More importantly, though, Marcal is nearing his return to action with Jonny the only player definitely out.
There is certainly more to come from the Wanderers and their upcoming three games against Leeds, Newcastle United, and Crystal Palace could make a telling impact on their campaign.
