After a vigorous tussle at Elland Road, the Leeds United manager commented on Manchester City’s playing power.

Leeds United gaffer Marcelo Bielsa admitted that his team should not have won. Evidently, Manchester City drew 1-1 against the Peacocks in a thrilling Premier League fixture on Saturday.

Raheem Sterling scored the opener in the 17th minute. Though, Leeds equalised through new signing Rodrigo in the second half. The club purchased the Spaniard for a record £27 million.

Bielsa’s men faced threats of losing the game in the first half of the game. Somehow, the Whites found their rhythm and managed to score in the later half of the match.

Bielsa knows Man City’s strength!

“It wouldn’t have been fair if we had won this game,” Bielsa said. “It was possible to have won this game, but it wouldn’t have been fair.

“We had to find an immense physical effort to be able to be on even terms, or slightly better than City for half a game.

“And we had to survive the beginning of the first half and the end of the second half.”

Unfortunately, Kevin De Bruyne hit the frame of the goal with a 30 yard freekick in the opening minutes of the game. Whereas, Leeds’ man Rodrigo aimed the goalpost two times as Ederson deflected his second attempt.

“We played our part for the game to be a beautiful one and City also played a huge part in making the game beautiful,” said Bielsa, whose side moved up to fifth in the table.

“They’re a very powerful team. Physically, mentally and technically. They play with a natural inclination to attack and are the type of team that goes out to win the game.”

The Spain international was brought on in the 56th minute and made a huge difference immediately.

“Progressively he will begin to show the great quality that he has,” Bielsa added. “Today he had a very good start and perhaps the pace of the game hit him at the end.

“When he’s able to play at a good physical level I think he will make a difference.”
