Manchester United defeated Leeds United 4-2 in their Premier League clash on Sunday. The Red Devils got back to winning ways losing their initial lead in the course of two minutes.
A Premier League spectacle!
Manchester United started off as the dominant side, but their shaky backline sent some worrying signals right from the beginning of the match. However, thanks to two excellent saves from David de Gea, Ralf Rangnick’s side avoided conceding the opener.
United finally broke the deadlock through Harry Maguire, who converted a corner in the 34th minute. The Red Devils ended the first period on a perfect note when Bruno Fernandes used an impressive one-two with Jadon Sancho to double their lead.
Rodrigo scores a wondergoal!
Leeds showed significant signs of improvement in the second half while inconsistency crept into United’s performance. Rodrigo Moreno scored an unbelievable long-range squad, which completely took De Gea off guard in the 53rd minute.
Only two minutes after their first goal, Leeds scored the equalizer through Raphinha.
United restores the lead!
United, similar to what we have seen in their last three games, lost their first-half lead. However, this time their pressure after conceding the equalizer was enough to secure the victory.
Following Sancho’s second assist of the night, Fred restored United’s lead with a precise strike from a tight angle.
Leeds hoped to level the game once again by several counter-attacks. However, it was United who put the win to bed by doubling their lead through academy star Anthony Elanga in the 88th minute.
The victory sends United to fourth place on the table, four points behind third-placed Chelsea. On the other hand, Leeds suffered their third defeat in four games. The Peacocks will meet Liverpool on Wednesday while Manchester United face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on the same day.
