Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani has conceded he is uncertain how much longer Marcelo Bielsa will continue as manager.

Bielsa is only in his third season as Leeds manager, but the Argentine has already built a legacy like none other.

He’s won countless plaudits for transforming the club into a Premier League outfit and implementing a high-pressing style of play, which has proven most entertaining to watch and led to many goal-laden affairs.

But Bielsa has never agreed to more than a one-year contract since becoming Whites’ boss in 2018. That trend continued in the summer, where he put pen-to-paper on another 12-month deal.

And while Radrizzani would like to continue working with the 65-year-old into the future, he suggested his age and the fact his family are mostly in Argentina may shorten his stay in Elland Road.

“I have no doubts Marcelo is the right person to coach Leeds. I’d like to continue the cycle with him, but I’m not naive either,” the club chairman told La Nacion.

“On the one hand, Marcelo is very demanding. For me, that is not a problem and neither is it for the players, who accept their work culture and see the benefits.

“On the other hand, Marcelo is no longer young. He is 65-years-old and his family is often in Argentina. So I don’t know if he wants to stay and for how long. We analyse it every year and decide it together.

“Obviously, our preference is that it continues. If that is not possible, we will surely have other options in mind, but so far we have not considered these options because we believe and hope he can continue with us.”

Bielsa and Leeds will be in action on Monday night by hosting Wolves at Elland Road for a Premier League match.
