The Gunners were just three minutes away from ending their Anfield curse last season. Will they do even better this weekend? Leandro Trossard shares what they need to do.

Leandro Trossard believes he and his teammates must be at their best and believe in themselves to help Arsenal end to their Anfield curse against Liverpool on Saturday.

The last time Arsenal won a Premier League game at Anfield was in September 2012. The Gunners won that game 2-0 with a team that included current manager Mikel Arteta. Since then, they’ve failed to win in their past 10 away games (D3 L7) against Liverpool in the English league.

“Anfield is always a really tough place to go to get points from,” Trossard said to Canal+.

“We have to be so, so good in the game and on the day to get away with points and, hopefully, the three points.

“I think we are in a good moment now. We had a really good game against Brighton. We have got the momentum going again and we have such a good squad.

“If everyone is at their best, we can beat them there. Numerous factors can decide a game – but we have to believe in ourselves that we can win there. Hopefully we can do that.”

Last season, Arsenal almost claimed a famous win at Anfield. They stormed into a two-goal lead inside 29 minutes through goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. Yet, Mohamed Salah got a goal back for Liverpool in the 42nd minute, before Roberto Firmino scored an equalizer for the Reds three minutes from time.

Trossard came on as a substitute in that game, but he will hope to start this time around. The Belgian knows what it takes to excel at Anfield. He scored a famous hat-trick for Brighton in October 2022 to help the Seagulls snatch a 3-3 draw at the venue.

His overall record against Jurgen Klopp’s side stands at five goals and one assist in eight games. He has only tasted victory once though, having had to settle for four draws and three defeats.
