Milan continue their disappointing run of form with another heavy defeat.

Lazio defeated AC Milan 4-0 in their Serie A game on Tuesday. A fantastic attacking display from the hosts left no chances for the title defenders at Stadio Olimpico.

Top four race heats up!

Milan started off by quickly taking over the possession. But an early opener from the hosts stunned them in the fourth minute.

A low cross from Matia Zaccagni found Sergej Milinković-Savić, who slotted the ball into the bottom-left corner of the net with a precise strike.

Milan regained the possession, trying to gradually increase the pressure on Lazio’s backline. But their efforts only created more counter-attacking possibilities for the hosts.

After a few missed chances, Lazio finally doubled their lead through Zaccagni in the 38th minute. The goal convinced Stefano Piolo to make three changes at the beginning of the second period.

But the substitutions failed to change the course of the game. Only seven minutes past the hour-mark, Luis Alberto converted a penalty to seal the victory for Lazio.

Milan’s backline looked completely shattered when Alberto provided the assist for Lazio’s fourth goal of the night.

A short pass from Alberto inside the box found Felipe Anderson unmarked. The Brazilian star then made it 4-0 for the hosts with a calm finish.

Milan barely made an attempt to create chances during the remainder of the game, while Lazio effectively controlled the game.

The victory increased Napoli’s lead at the top of the table to 12 points. Lazio managed to climb to third place with their home victory, sitting only a point behind Milan.
