Rome’s Olympic Stadium was the place where AC Milan visited SS Lazio in another Serie A game. We have the player ratings for you.
If they wanted to remain in Serie A’s second spot, AC Milan needed to win tonight against SS Lazio in a new Serie A Monday Night football. The Rossoneri are currently at 66 points in the tournament alongside Napoli and Juventus with the same points. If they lost tonight, we could get a thrilling final stretch of the season between all three squads. Although Napoli has the easier calendar compared to the other two, who face each other a week from now.
Lazio wanted to maintain their hopes of possibly getting that Top Four spot but they needed to defeat AC Milan today at Rome’s Olympic Stadium. Without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Rossoneri are far from the competitive side that remained at the top during the first half of the season. Lazio was able to control the result throughout the 90 minutes of the game. It was really not a problem for them to score and defend with clear dominance.
Correa delivers a stellar performance.
Joaquin Correa was the top player of this match with a brace that started during the initial minutes of the game. He got past three AC Milan defenders to score his goal right in front of Donnarumma. From that moment forward, Lazio could control the result and remained in the back while waiting for a counterattack. In the second half, Correa scored his brace after an evident foul but VAR didn’t consider it as such.
During the last 20 minutes, Ciro Immobile appeared with the third goal and a final chip over the goalkeeper that hit the post. Lazio was clearly far above what Milan could take and left the race for the Top Four wide open. There are at least four clubs that will share the three spots for next year’s Champions League. Inter Milan already has the title in their pocket but we are still getting a wild end of the season.
