We need to take a closer look at Lautaro Martinez’s possible contract extension at Inter Milan and why he might not sign a new contract.

Lautaro Martinez has been trying to get his contract in order at Inter Milan over the last few months. The Italian club recently felt they could lose one of their best players against FC Barcelona but the deal fell apart. With the Catalan club completely in shambles. The Nerazzurri are trying to seize the opportunity to finalize a new deal with the Argentine striker. However, there is a major issue that they have with his representation.

Even though he is currently enjoying life in Italy, Lautaro is still unwilling to fully commit to the cause at Inter Milan. There are many clubs that would be willing to spend a lot of money on this striker but Inter poses a major obstacle for them. Lautaro is trying to change this with a very specific move that his representation is trying to make happen.

It’s all inside Lautaro’s new contract.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Lautaro Martinez’s agent and Inter Milan are set to have a meeting over the weekend. The idea is to discuss a new contract extension for the next three years and keep the player until after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. There’s a specific issue that the club doesn’t like about this negotiation. Lautaro is requesting a buyout clause that he didn’t have in his previous contract.

This obviously suggests the player doesn’t want to remain at Inter for his entire career and he is thinking about playing somewhere else. FC Barcelona might not even be part of the equation anymore, but there are other clubs that want the player. Inter is currently resisting this new clause but it’s either that or allow him to leave for free. The situation is complicated for Inter because the player has all the power in the negotiation. At least we do know that Lautaro will leave Inter sometime in the future.
