Despite a forgettable performance in Spain’s Euro 2020 opener, Aymeric Laporte has no doubts over Alvaro Morata’s potential this summer.
Aymeric Laporte has backed teammate Alvaro Morata to silence his critics with a hat-trick in Spain’s next game.
The Juventus striker started ahead of Gerard Moreno in Spain’s Euro 2020 opener against Sweden on Monday night, but he couldn’t make the difference in a disappointing 0-0 draw in Seville.
While Morata’s work rate and movements were good, his finishing wasn’t up to scratch. He missed a brilliant chance to score during a dominant first-half display from Spain and came off past the hour-mark for Pablo Sarabia.
Álvaro Morata has scored just one goal in 384 minutes (almost 6.5 hours) of football for Spain in 2021.

The lack of attacking threat displeased the home crowd in Seville, prompting fans to boo the team.
“You can’t doubt an attacker like Alvaro, who has already shown a lot,” said Laporte after the match as per Goal.
“Next time he scores three and shuts everyone up.”
Spain manager Luis Enrique added: “I also heard applause for Morata, and I’ll focus on that. He is a great player who does a lot of things very well. No luck today, but that’s football, and that’s life.
“It is easier to play with the public in your favor, and I hope that will change.”
The three-time European champions resume their Group E campaign on Saturday against Poland in Seville again.
