Barcelona have a new president in Joan Laporta and it could yet affect two key Arsenal figures, namely Hector Bellerin and Mikel Arteta.

Joan Laporta’s announcement as the new Barcelona president could affect the futures of Hector Bellerin and Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

Just recently, we reported that the defender’s representatives had already been in contact with Joan Laporta. At the time, the 58-year-old was not yet sworn in as Barcelona president.

The report mentioned the close relationship between the Barcelona president and Hector Bellerin.

The Arsenal defender himself has flirted around with the idea of leaving the club and it remains to be seen if he’ll do so.

Football.London now reports that Laporta and Barcelona could test the player’s resolve and push for Bellerin in the summer.

Asides the Gunners defender, head coach Mikel Arteta has also been linked to the Barcelona manager job should Ronald Koeman choose to leave at some point. The links were at least genuine enough to prompt a response from the Gunners boss who has history with Barcelona from his days at the La Masia academy.

The chances of Mikel Arteta leaving the Gunners at the moment are rather slim. However, it is not out of place to think that Bellerin would consider a move elsewhere, especially if it’s his former side in Barcelona.

Arsenal do need to raise funds for summer signings and they could be tempted to sell their current longest-serving player this summer in a bid to boost their finances.
