Since winning the presidency on Sunday, Joan Laporta already visited FC Barcelona’s first-team for the first time on Monday afternoon.

FC Barcelona has Joan Laporta as the new president and he is already trying to work hard in order to begin a new era at the club. His arrival is a major shift in the club’s philosophy that was more financially-oriented rather than looking at the sporting aspect. Even though the other model also worked for years, this football club is trying to go back to the roots of the Johan Cruyff philosophy.

Trusting 100% on the people who were homegrown and only add a few players from the outside who can fit the model. Joan Laporta understood this better than any other president in recent history. Today, he visited Ronald Koeman to let him know he is willing to trust his recent results and try to create a positive dynamic between them. The chairman is also naming many positions to help the club thrive but there is an order of business he still needs to cover.

When will Messi decide his future?

Joan Laporta already stated that Leo Messi congratulated him for becoming the president again. It is clear that Leo was a major force that pushed the new president to victory due to their good relationship. Now that they can publicly confirm their good feeling, it is time to get to work for both of them. Joan was right when he said Leo would probably consider leaving Barcelona if other candidates won the presidency.

The club’s biggest player will only feel comfortable working with people he previously enjoyed at the club. With Laporta, Leo has fond memories from the times when they were virtually invincible. This is what the new president strives for when he goes to speak with Messi about his future. More than trying to offer him a fat paycheck, he wants to offer a great project that can motivate Messi. For now, Laporta can only analyze what needs fixing within the club.
