After a long day of meetings, Joan Laporta revealed his feeling about Lionel Messi’s future as a Barcelona player. He seemed quite confident.

The one man who has the power to convince Lionel Messi to stay, is Joan Laporta. After two successful periods as the club’s president, the candidate is trying to win another election in order to start his third term at the club. We can’t forget he was the man who managed to convince Messi to stay when he was way younger and several offers were on the table. After that, Barcelona became the best club in the world with Joan as the president.

Needless to say, there are many more good than bad decisions he made during his tenure. After many years in power, the former president earned Leo’s respect and his possible return also has his family all hyped up. If he wins the presidency, there are much better chances he will remain at the club. Laporta always tried to take things in the best possible direction by following the club’s most sacred traditions. For this alone, Leo is allegedly thinking about staying at the club.

Laporta apparently talks to Leo Messi.

In recent days, Messi said that he hadn’t spoken to any candidate but that interview was pre-recorded. By the time Laporta made first contact with the star, he had already spoken to Jordi Evole. After that, both had a few approaches in order to find out where Leo stands regarding his future.

“Messi is now totally focused on catching Atletico Madrid in La Liga and playing the Paris Saint-Germain tie in the Champions League,” a confident Laporta said via Sport. “I do not know if he will be playing on Sunday [in the Supercopa de Espana final] but he will be on the bench and it is important that Leo encourage his team-mates. I see him happier and happier, he is enjoying it. I know that he wants to stay and I know that he will do everything in his power to stay as long as the club can offer him an offer that suits him.”
