Barcelona president Joan Laporta hopes for a swift conclusion to Lionel Messi’s contract talks with a helping hand from Sergio Aguero.
Joan Laporta hopes Lionel Messi decides his Barcelona future soon as his contract with the club expires on June 30.
The Barcelona president hears from Messi regularly and the Argentine’s attitude has left him optimistic of a new contract agreement. He also revealed the club’s new signing Sergio Aguero tries to talk his teammate into staying ‘every day’.

“I would like Messi to tell us ‘yes’ as soon as possible,” Laporta told La Vanguardia.
“He would help us in every way. He is excited and I am grateful to him for the desire he is showing to stay.”
Laporta added: “Aguero is helping. He is telling him every day to stay.”
As things stand, Messi will become a free agent once his current contract expires on June 30.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner is away on international duty for Argentina in the Copa America and, therefore, may not announce any decision until the tournament ends.
Premier League champions Manchester City and Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have been touted as potential new clubs if Messi is to leave Barcelona.
