Ahead of an important La Liga match for FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta dropped a surprising update on manager Ronald Koeman’s future.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has announced Ronald Koeman will continue as manager.
A terrible start to the season and an alleged fractured relationship with the board led to reports claiming the club would sack Koeman. Roberto Martinez, Xavi, Andrea Pirlo, and Marcelo Gallardo were linked with the Dutchman’s job.

Ahead of Sunday’s trip to Atletico Madrid, however, Laporta has cooled doubts over Koeman’s future. The president claims the manager will have more time at Camp Nou after all.
“No matter the result, Koeman will continue to be the coach,” said Laporta as quoted by Marca.
“He is a Barcelona legend and fan. We have to show some confidence. He became coach during a very difficult institutional and sporting moment.
“We all hope the situation can improve.”
