Timo Werner and Kai Havertz are yet to hit the ground running for Chelsea, but Frank Lampard remains relaxed over his summer signings.

Werner and Havertz drew a blank for the second game in succession on Saturday as Chelsea drew 0-0 away to Manchester United in the Premier League.

It was a rather dull affair at Old Trafford, with the Blues managing just a single shot on target. They offered very little upfront, having adopted a more defensive-minded approach recently, and settled for a point. It was also their second clean sheet and a goalless stalemate in a row.

But Lampard is confident that his German attackers, along with fellow summer signing Hakim Ziyech, will come good in time.

“I am very happy with Timo,” said the Blues boss as quoted on Metro.

“If you go back to the game before that, he scored two goals and Kai Havertz scores a goal. I am least worried about the front end of the pitch with the players that we have there.

“It is normal that it will take some time for relationships [to build]. For when we have got to put the ball in behind, the ball into feet, clearly these things are going to take time to build.

“The reason we brought Timo and Kai into the club is to add to the quality we already have here.

“Hakim Ziyech is looking like he is getting close to starting a game with his fitness. I have no worries about that.”
