Frank Lampard’s Chelsea has not seen any win in the last seven Premier League matches at Old Trafford. What’s in store next?

Chelsea gaffer Frank Lampard omitted goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of their Premier League fixture vs Manchester United. Furthermore, the Blues manager also commented that Peter Cech will not be replacing the Spanish international.

Unfortunately, Kepa suffered due to another error in goal in the 3-3 draw against Southampton last weekend. Consequently, Lampard switched the Spaniard with new signing Edouard Mendy who is out with a thigh injury.

Moreover, Mendy defended the Chelsea frame in a goalless draw vs Sevilla in the Champions League opener. And, Kepa will not fly to Old Trafford due to a shoulder injury.

To everyone’s surprise, the legendary Cech joined the Chelsea squad after retiring last year. However, Lampard confirmed that the Czech international will not play against the Red Devils.

Additionally, the Blues boss received questions regarding the status of Thiago Silva and Christian Pulisic.

“Both are fine, we’ve got a pretty clean bill of health on that side, other than Kepa who has a shoulder issue so won’t travel to Manchester,” Lampard said. “The only other player out is Billy Gilmour who is obviously long-term, but he’ll be back soon.

“Petr Cech’s not coming in that capacity [to replace Kepa].”

Evidently, social media surrounded Cech’s return to his old club. Though, Lampard did not find it shocking to see his former team-mate’s media coverage.

“I suppose if you’re Petr Cech and you’ve been one of the best goalkeepers, in my opinion, the best in the Premier League era, it was always a big story,” Lampard added.

Stakes are high for Lampard.

Furthermore, Chelsea did not win any of their last seven games against United. Therefore, the English gaffer is excited to get all the three points needed.

Lampard managed to lose his first two fixtures vs United last season. He will become the first Chelsea manager to suffer three defeats in a row if United bags in the victory.

In addition, he is also aware of United’s recent triumph in Paris.

He said: “It certainly does feel like a big game. They are a quality team, they went to Paris and got a fantastic result. It’s an opportunity to get some hard-earned points.”

He added: “It’s too early to assume anything. It’s early. The games of teams around you will always be big. There are games where you have to grind out.”
