Frank Lampard is impressed with Kai Havertz’s ability to efficiently function in a number of different areas of the pitch.

Chelsea crossed the €200 million mark in recruitment just this summer following the acquisition of Kai Havertz.

Havertz was one of the standout performers in all of the Bundesliga last term as his impressive tally of 12 goals and 6 assists helped Bayer Leverkusen secure European football.

The German international also guided his side to DFB Pokal finals, but failed to prevent Bayern Munich from lifting the trophy.

A technically-gifted player, he is comfortable on the ball with both feet and can operate at various positions across midfield as well as take up the center-forward role, if need be.

The 21-year old will be expected to make his Premier League debut when Chelsea play Brighton on Monday night.

Speaking ahead of the match, Frank Lampard has attempted to explain why he was so adamant about adding Havertz to his squad.

“Kai, with his qualities, is flexible to play in different positions. I haven’t changed my view in a few days of seeing him so I think we can use his versatility,” said Lampard, as per Goal.

“One of the pluses, when I spoke to Kai, is that he is very comfortable.

“He is potentially very happy to help the team, he can give us quality in different areas so it is not one that we have to nail down.”
