Ahead of the upcoming clash between Sevilla and Chelsea, Frank Lampard revealed why the Blues are trying to finish at the top of their group.

The UEFA Champions League’s Group E is one of the most exciting due to Chelsea and Sevilla’s good level of performance. Frank Lampard’s squad is doing things right despite having several newbies inside their roster. With 10 points each and two matches left in the group stage, tomorrow’s match has the potential to decide who’s winning the group.

The Blues are already training in Seville ahead of the match at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. Manager Frank Lampard has been getting ready for a game of this level of difficulty throughout the entire season. We can’t forget that Sevilla is still the reigning UEFA Europa League champion and they made it difficult for Bayern to win the UEFA Supercup. Chelsea has a proper test ahead of them against one of the best clubs on the continent.

Lampard is confident in his players’ capabilities.

Ahead of the match, Lampard spoke to the media via the club’s official website: “It certainly isn’t a dead rubber. We want to win the group for different reasons. Generally winning the group is the beneficial pathway though that isn’t clear all the time.

“In terms of motivation, players who haven’t had many minutes have to show why they should be in the starting 11. I have difficult choices and it is an opportunity for players to give me more difficult choices going forward.

“We are on a good run. We haven’t lost since Liverpool which was a difficult game for us because of circumstances that happened in the game. My feelings in football are, if you are going well and try and flick the switch off and then flick it back on again, it doesn’t work that way.”
